Far East Deep South – Motion Graphics

We had the privilege to have been asked to work on this amazing project.  This multi-award-winning documentary was packed full of detailed government legislation that needed to be clearly articulated in a graphical manner.  We didn’t want the audience to be confused with the amount of information that was being thrown at them.

Our job was to bring the animations to life that help to explain the contents of the film.

HAM IT UP!

The Process

Before we started working on the project we drafted up some stylescapes based on our discussions in order to determine the visual look and feel of the motion graphics.

When we had the look figured out then we went into drafting mock-ups of each of the required motion graphic sequences to hone in on the look before we spent all our time designing the animation.  The mock-ups consisted of sample animation approaches and movements we might want to use.

Once we had our set look we created customized templates that could be applied to each of the segments for continuity.  Part of the template building was in the creation of the maps and other graphic assets.

The result ended in the film winning awards at multiple festivals and premiering on the World Channel (PBS) series “America ReFramed”
